Job Description
The Chief Accountant will handle the full spectrum of financial and cost accounting duties:
1) Responsible for day to day finance and accounts operations
2) Perform full set of accounts and ensure timely closing of accounts.
3) Perform project cost forecasts/budgets, cost tracking, monitoring and controls.
4) Managing the company’s overall financial position and matching it to the firm’s financial targets
5) Keeping accurate tracks of all expenses, liabilities and projected costs
6) Tracking profitability by creating a budget for each part of a construction project
7) Working closely with the estimator and purchaser to ensure alignment on costs and expenditure
8) Managing man-hours and the costs of same and making sure all tax and welfare obligations are met
9) Having a deep knowledge of corporate law, regulatory and reporting requirements
10) Predicting future challenges and associated costs.
11) Responsible for timely monthly financial statements, payments, cash-flow
12) Management reporting for submission to HQ.
13) Review & approve payment vouchers & journal entries
14) Perform cash flow forecasting, budgeting for projects and working closely with the operations and project managers.
15) Analyzing margins, variances and cost analysis.
16) Issue project cost reports for review and approval.
17) Develop and maintain internal control and effective accounting system and policies for the set up.
18) Support FO in ensuring that inter company cost allocations are in line with management
19) Agreements and transfer pricing policy.
20) Establish and maintain systems for cost-sensitivity analysis and early-warning of cost-overruns.
- Work consultative with the respective departments on cost reduction initiatives
Skills
· Degree in Accounting or Finance is a must. CPA/ACCA is preferred
· 10-12 years of experience in large construction companies
· Relevant experience in audit and costing is advantageous
· Excellent strategic planning skills and able to interact with all colleagues
· Good MS Office skills particularly strong capabilities in MS Excel
· Able to work independently and highly meticulous
· Working experience in SAP is highly recommended
· Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP
