DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 5.1      Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department.5.2      Achieving and maintenance of competence in the performance of routine assays and preparing for higher practical examinations.5.3      Assumes a technical staff management function in his/her section in collaboration with the senior scientific and technical staff, but line management will only involve direction and supervision of Residents.5.4      Liaises with clinical peers to advise on appropriate investigation and interpretation in the ward rounds and OPD of clinical firms whose case may require considerable laboratory support. A casebook documenting participation in patient’s investigation with a critical commentary will be kept.5.5      Advises Residents and technical staff on specific tests to be performed on patient’s biological samples and undertakes routine bench work.
